Individual comments about Holmes Institute

I especially found the research component of my studies helped me, including e-Business Applications and the Business Research Project, as this helped me to open my online business shortly after my graduation

I had dreamed of starting my own business long before I came to Australia, but it was here that I found both the opportune place and time to take a step toward pursuing my dream.

I realised that in our rapidly evolving world I needed to understand where business development was heading, and to gain the tools that would allow me to apply this knowledge in practical ways to start my own business. To do this I enrolled in the Bachelor in Business at Holmes Institute, Brisbane.

Throughout my course I considered various options for my business, and deliberated my ideas in the context of what I was learning. In my final year, along with giving birth to my 1st child, I conducted a research project assessing the feasibility of my business idea. Having identified a market gap, target consumers, and having developed marketing and operational plans, I set about establishing my first business, “Brazil Fitness Fashion”, importing and retailing unique high quality fitness wear from Brazil.

My dream came to life when I launched Brazil Fitness Fashion in October  with such success that the businesses stock almost sold-out in the first weekend. Since then my business has grown with the online store as the primary sales medium. The knowledge and skills I learned through my degree allowed me to develop the eCommerce aspect of my business and to manage the difficulties associated with international trade. It gave me the start I needed to turn my dream into an idea and that idea into a business.
