The Holmes Institute Teaching and Learning Plan 2010-2012 (T&L Plan) evolves from statements contained in the Holmes Institute Strategic Business Plan 2009-2011 and the Holmes Institute Learning Pathway. Informal documents at the faculty level also inform this plan.
The current plan represents Holmes' commitment to the systematic improvement of T&L outcomes through planning and evidence-based decision-making. The T&L Plan was passed by Academic Board on 16 December 2009 and ratified by the Holmes Board of Directors on 17 December 2009.
The T&L Plan contains processes and initiatives for quality improvement, benchmarking outcomes and reinforcing Holmes philosophical and pedagogical approach to all its teaching and learning activities.
The four principal priority goals of the T&L Plan 2010-2012 are to:
1. Achieve a sound level of student satisfaction with teaching, subject and course content that are comparable to other higher education providers and relevant to industry and community needs
2. Produce work-ready graduates endorsed by industry who are imbued with the attributes set out in Holmes' Graduate attributes
3. Enable Holmes faculty to meet student and market needs by promoting and supporting innovation, scholarship and technology in teaching and learning
4. Improve student success and graduation rates by closely monitoring student progression through their course
The T&L Plan anchors students' expectations of teaching and learning at Holmes and provides faculty with an operational plan to achieve various teaching and learning goals, measured against relevant benchmarks in the sector.
